PTTK shelter "Nad Łomniczką” (1002 m n.p.m.) – the first in this place was the shepherd's hut (XIX w.), later a hunting lodge was built. Michael Melzz Mysłakowice in the last decade of the 19th century. turned it into an inn. Another inn was standing next to it (Melzergrundbaude), and it is in this building that the PTT Branch from Jelenia Góra was opened in 1947 r. a small shelter "Nad Mała Łomnica”. Today the hostel offers a dining room, buffet and public facilities (without accommodation). As the only one in the Karkonosze Mountains it is equipped with its own water turbine.
The shelter is located just above the spirit level 1000 m. We'll have to go through more 100 km of the trail, before we reach the height again 1000 m (climbing the Great Owl).
From under the shelter, the red trail runs initially along with the yellow trail on the left side of Łomniczka. Soon the yellow trail turns right, still holding on to the valley, and we follow the wide curves and a slightly monotonous forest road towards Karpacz. Crossing the left-hand tributaries of the Łomniczka River, we come to the Orlinek hotel” (under expansion) and we leave the Karkonoski National Park. Behind the booth with entrance tickets to the park, the trail turns left into ul. Olimpijska and at the Łomnicki Crossroads (at the intersection with ul. Tourist) turns right sharply, the rocky road along the Łomnica riverbed. Trails join here: black from Kopa, and slightly lower than yellow from the "Strzecha Akademicka" and green from Polana. Together they lead to the roundabout – intersections of the main streets of Karpacz: Constitution 3 Maja and Karkonoska.
