Szrenicka Hall

Hala Szrenicka is a natural meadow within the boundaries of the KNP, enlarged in the 18th century. by grazing. It is located on both sides of the border (Czech. Food louka). Centuries ago, the hall was visited by treasure hunters - the presence of valuable minerals is evidenced by the fact, that in 1926 r. heavy rains washed away large amethysts on its territory.

The hall has long been very popular among tourists and skiers, who enjoy excellent snow conditions. The hall began its skiing career at the beginning of the 20th century.; the favorite winter sport at that time were downhill runs to the so-called. horned sleigh along the five-kilometer route along the Kamieńczyk stream.

Horned sleighs in the Sudetes came from the Alps. They were used by lumberjacks and peasants to transport wood, hauling hay and transporting construction materials from hard-to-reach places. The first tourist horn sleigh ride took place in 1737 r. At the end of the 19th century. such meetings were very popular. Numerous downhill routes have been marked out in the Karkonosze Mountains and around 3 thousand sleds!

After the end of World War II, popular entertainment was forgotten, and only after half a century has passed, it is rediscovered. In March, the International Horned Sleigh Congress is organized in Kowary.

Today, there is a large ski complex, Arena Szrenica, in the hall. It includes a cableway taking skiers to the top of Szrenica, ski runs and pistes, slalom slope and T-bar lifts at Hall Szrenicka.

The two-section chairlift was built in 1962 r.; its total length is 2807 m, and the difference in levels 608 m. The names of the Szrenica ski slopes are well known among avid skiers all over Poland:„Lollobrigida”(from the name of the famous Italian film actress Gina Lollobrigida),"Snowflake”or "Pooh”.

From under the Na Hali Szrenicka shelter” The GSS runs along a paved road towards the state border, where it meets the black trail, which turns left along the road to the “Szrenica” (a few minutes of walking). The red trail runs along the border (without going to the top of Szrenica), passes the Trzy Świnki rock group and goes down to the Wet Pass (1290 m n.p.m.).

The knot of trails: green for Hala Szrenicka, Czech yellow to Voseckej bouda, green to the shelter "Pod Łabskim Szczytem”.
